What should we expect during an in-home newborn session
During your in-home newborn session with me, get ready for a few hours filled with love, laughter, and precious moments. I'll bring along some cozy blankets and adorable outfits to make your photoshoot extra special. Before the session, we'll have a heart-to-heart chat to go over all the details and make sure we capture the essence of your family perfectly. Think of it as a chance for us to connect and create something truly magical together. So relax, enjoy the cuddles, and let's make memories that you'll cherish forever.
Are in-home newborn sessions suitable for small living spaces?
Absolutely! In-home newborn sessions are perfect for small living spaces. All we need are some windows to let in natural light, and we're good to go. We don't need a lot of space or fancy designs – your family and your love are more than enough to create beautiful memories of your little one.
Do you provide all the necessary equipment for in-home sessions
For our in-home sessions, we work exclusively with natural light to preserve the atmosphere of your home. That means no need for extra flashes or lighting equipment. I'll provide wraps and blankets to enhance the cozy feel, but feel free to incorporate your personal items to make the story even more unique and "yours." It's all about capturing the authentic essence of your family and surroundings, so let's keep it natural and heartfelt
What's the difference between a studio and in-home newborn session
The main difference between a studio and in-home newborn session lies in the setting and convenience. A studio offers a pre-organized, cleaned, and fully prepared environment, providing a controlled backdrop for your photoshoot. On the other hand, an in-home session offers the ease of commuting to your own space, where you can feel most comfortable and relaxed. It's particularly convenient if you have pets, siblings, or other family members involved, as everyone can easily participate in the session without the hassle of traveling. For more details on the pros and cons of each option, feel free to check out my blog.
Do you have a preferred time of day for newborn photoshoot?
In lifestyle photography we don't have a strict preferred time for newborn photoshoots, but mornings tend to be ideal as babies are typically more cooperative during this time. The soft, natural light in the morning also creates a beautiful atmosphere for capturing those precious moments. However, I'm flexible and happy to accommodate your schedule to ensure we capture the best possible photos. Ultimately, the most important thing is to choose a time when you and all your family members feel most comfortable and relaxed.
How long does an newborn session typically last
A typical newborn session lasts around 2-3 hours to allow for plenty of time to capture all those precious moments. This timeframe ensures that we have enough flexibility to accommodate any breaks needed for feeding, comforting, or cleaning. Your baby's comfort and well-being are my top priority, so rest assured, we'll take all the time necessary to ensure a relaxed and enjoyable experience for you and your little one.
What should we wear for our in-home newborn session
I recommend wearing cozy and comfortable attire in natural colors. Opt for outfits that are washed and ironed to ensure a polished look. Keep it simple by sticking to 2-3 colors for all family members, but feel free to express your individual style. Aim for a coordinated look with similar styles, but avoid being too matchy-matchy. The goal is to create a cohesive and timeless look that highlights your family's warmth and connection.
Can siblings or pets be included in the photoshoot
Absolutely YES! Including siblings, parents or pets in the photoshoot adds an extra layer of warmth and personality to your session. It's a wonderful opportunity to capture the bond and love shared within your family. In fact, I highly encourage involving them in the shoot—it's a crime not to! What if my baby is fussy or uncooperative during the session
No need to worry at all! As a parent of two children myself, I completely understand that babies can sometimes be fussy or uncooperative during photoshoots. That's why I always have a few tricks up my sleeve and some additional help on hand to ensure everything runs smoothly. With my experience and understanding of babies' needs, I have strategies to help soothe and comfort them if they become unsettled. I've found that when we prioritize meeting their needs and ensuring their comfort, babies tend to behave beautifully during the session. So rest assured, I'll do everything I can to make sure your little one is happy and content throughout the shoot.
How far in advance should we book our in-home newborn session?
The best time to book your in-home newborn session is approximately one month before your due date. This allows us to schedule a tentative photoshoot date that aligns with your expected arrival. However, babies have their own timeline, so if they arrive earlier or later than expected, don't worry! We can adjust the photoshoot date accordingly to ensure it fits perfectly with your new arrival's schedule. Get in touch with me around a month before your due date, and we'll work together to plan the perfect session for your growing family.
